History

The Market Town



Hopfgarten’s historic center was officially designated a market town more than 650 years ago. The town still boasts beautiful cobbled streets and well-preserved 16th-century townhouses, including the famous Pinzgerbäck House, which has been home to bakers since 1581.

Landmarks



The impressive Baroque Church of St. James, often called the “Brixental Cathedral,” towers over the town. Built in the mid-18th century, the church with its twin towers is one of the area’s most iconic landmarks.
